414 Series Water Quality Monitors

The 414 series includes three models, each measuring water quality in a different unit. Identify your model below and visit your product-specific help page. If you scanned a QR code, this page will automatically redirect you to the matching model when a recognized model parameter is present.

Which 414 Monitor Do You Have?

414R-HP

Resistivity • Megohms (MΩ·cm)

Monitors high-purity water up to 18.18 MΩ·cm. Ideal for DI water, lab-grade, and ultra-pure water systems.

Sensor: CS10S (stainless steel body)
View Resistivity Help →

414C

Conductivity • Microsiemens (µS/cm)

Measures conductivity from 0 to 9,999 µS/cm. Best for RO reject water, process water, and cooling systems.

Sensor: CTS1 (plastic body)
View Conductivity Help →

414TDS

Total Dissolved Solids • PPM

Displays TDS in parts per million. Uses the same CTS1 sensor as the 414C, so choose based on your preferred unit.

Not sure which model you have? Check the front label of your monitor for the model number, such as 414R-HP, 414C, or 414TDS. You can also identify it by sensor type: stainless steel probe body means CS10S for 414R-HP, while plastic probe body means CTS1 for 414C or 414TDS. Display units also help: MΩ = resistivity, µS = conductivity, and ppm = TDS.

414 Series - General FAQs

What is the difference between the 414R-HP, 414C, and 414TDS?

The 414 series includes three models, each measuring water quality in a different unit:

  • 414R-HP (Resistivity) reads in megohms (MΩ·cm) and is best for high-purity water above 1 megohm.
  • 414C (Conductivity) reads in microsiemens (µS/cm) and is best for water quality below 1 megohm.
  • 414TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) reads in parts per million (ppm) and is best when TDS is your standard measurement.

If your water quality is in the high-purity range, typically above 1 megohm, the 414R-HP is recommended.

What accessories do I need to get started?

The minimum required accessories are:

  • 414 Monitor, either R-HP, C, or TDS
  • Sensor: CS10S for 414R-HP, or CTS1 for 414C and 414TDS, available in standard cable lengths such as 10', 25', 50', and 100'
  • PC-110 Power Cable

Optional accessories include the WMA Wall Mount Adapter, calibration modules like CM-18 for resistivity and CM-1K for conductivity or TDS, and the 414-RMA Remote Alarm Module.

What do the terminal block connections mean?

After removing the back cover, you'll see terminal block TB1 numbered 1 through 11:

  • Terminals 1-3: Power supply, AC line, AC neutral, and earth ground
  • Terminals 4-6: Relay output for connecting an external alarm or control system
  • Terminals 7-11: Sensor connection for CTS1 or CS10S

Always disconnect power before removing or attaching any wires.

Do the 414 monitors have analog outputs for BMS?

The standard 414 models do not include analog outputs. However, the 414-520 models, including 414R-HP-520, 414C-520, and 414TDS-520, include selectable analog outputs: 0-5V, 4-20mA, or 0-20mA.

These outputs allow the water quality reading to be integrated with a building management system or a data logger.

Do the 414 monitors have a remote alarm capability?

Yes. The 414-RMA Remote Alarm Module provides an audible alarm at a remote location away from the monitor and connects via an RPC cable.

The monitor also has a built-in NO or NC relay on terminals 4-6, which can be connected to an external alarm or control system.

How do I set the setpoints?

The 414 has a user-selectable setpoint with adjustable high and low thresholds, or hysteresis, that determine when the relay activates and deactivates.

Refer to the user manual for step-by-step programming instructions specific to your model.

Do all 414 monitors come calibrated?

Yes. All 414 monitors come factory calibrated and verified against a Thornton 200CR with traceable certification. Under normal operating conditions they should not need adjustment.

Some facilities still require periodic recalibration for ISO or QA compliance, and calibration modules are available for that purpose: CM-18 for resistivity and CM-1K for conductivity or TDS.

How does the 414R-HP compare to the Hy-Lite?

The Hy-Lite is a fixed setpoint indicator light. It simply shows whether water quality is above or below its threshold.

The 414R-HP provides a continuous digital readout with user-selectable setpoints. Both systems use inline sensors with standard 1/2" or 3/4" NPT fittings, so installation is similar.

What is the warranty on the 414 monitors?

414 monitors come with a 2-year warranty. If a component failure occurs within the warranty period, Hydro-Check will repair or replace the unit.

How do I send my monitor in for repair?

Contact orders@hydrocheck.com to request an RMA number. Ship the unit to:

Hydro-Check Systems
1708 Ord Way
Oceanside, CA 92056

Units undergo bench testing and overnight stress testing, and you'll receive an RMA report detailing findings and any repairs performed.
